Tooele depot guard collapses and dies

STOCKTON, Tooele County — A security guard at the Deseret Chemical Depot collapsed and died in a parking lot at the end of his work shift Sunday.

Depot officials said the death was due to a medical problem and was unrelated to the man's work at the facility.

Depot spokeswomen Alaine Southworth said the man was in an administrative area of the facility when he collapsed. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He is one of about 150 security personnel employed by Deseret Chemical Depot, Southworth said.

The man's name and age were not released Sunday, pending the notification of family members.
